In life, I have faced many challenges both personally (cancer, loss of loved ones) and professionally (loss of job, unfairness, and furlough). As most of us find out, life is not always easy. The struggle is real and present in everyone’s life in one form or another. Recently, I was feeling defeated because I felt that I haven’t been able to move forward in different areas of my life. Although, I was in celebration mode because of my birthday trying to be present in the moment, my unconscious mind was preoccupied with the lingering thoughts of defeat.
In search of motivation and direction, I remembered having the same feelings when I was first diagnosed with cancer. When all the test results, along with the doctor’s prognosis pointed to the end of my life, I turned to God for salvation. He carried me through the darkest moments in my life and pulled me out to the other side. He gave me a second chance and he didn’t give up on me; therefore, I shouldn’t give up either. With this in mind, I looked at my vision board and decided that I should add another phrase to it for daily inspiration which I believe applies to basically everything in life: NEVER GIVE UP. These are three simple little words, but together it is a bold statement. In the face of difficulty and adversity, we can decide to keep trying, moving forward, searching for solutions and to never quit.
Nobody said life would be easy, fight for what you want. Even if you fail, remember it is only a setback. Don’t dwell on the mistakes made, learn from them and move forward. Although, at times, I am guilty of giving my setbacks some validity, I remind myself that I must refrain from these thoughts and figure out how I will move forward. At a young age, my mother would try to comfort me when she would see me shed tears after losing a competition at school. She would talk me through every step of the situation trying to find all the possible mistakes made and ask how I could have done things better. She would go on to say now you know what you need to work on to improve and get better. It is okay to fail, what is important is what you do afterwards, so get up, learn, try again and most importantly never give up. This advice was shared by my dear loving mother to me at a young age which still holds as much weight today as it did when I was a child. Now, I would like to share the same advice to anyone that may need it. Just 3 simple but powerful words, Never Give Up!
#Move Forward
