Anxiety

Sometimes, I have to pause for a moment, take a deep breath, calm myself, and just let things go.  I try to re-focus myself on what really matters to me and who matters in my life and know that the rest will all work itself out.  I take a few steps back and just take it one step at a time.

This is the reminder that I give to myself when I am feeling stressed and overwhelmed with everything going on in my life.  I remember that I am not in control of the situation that is happening and realize that I cannot change it and allowing it to affect me will not help matters.  As a person who experienced anxiety and depression as a side effect from the cancer treatment, I know that I can easily go back there if I experience high levels of stress.  Fortunately, I know when I starting to feel this way and stop myself and turn to prayer and meditation mostly to calm myself.  I have learned how to manage myself to not go into a state of anxiety. Anxiety doesn’t control me.  I am a strong person who is not able to carry the worries of the family on my shoulders, it is too much for me, but I know that I can give that to God who can carry the load for me.  It allows for my mind to be cleared and to stay strong and be able to do the things that I am able to do to continue moving forward with a positive and optimistic state of mind and attitude.  When things go wrong in life and we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders we need to remember that we are not alone. God is always by our side carrying the weight of the world for us. We are imperfect humans living in an imperfect world.  Things will always go wrong and we can’t fix everything. If we want to take care of our loved ones, we must first take care of ourselves.
