Redirection

Life is a journey.  Each person is unique and has their own personal journey in life.  Our journey in life is full of decisions made by us on a daily basis.  Along the way, the steps we take have created different chapters in the book of life.  On our journey, we have doors that either open or close on us which in turn may cause us to have happiness and joy or sorrow and pain.  No matter what the circumstances we face we must acknowledge that the closed doors are only closed temporary and for a specific purpose. I have learned the hard way that everything in life can be overcome. As long as we make a conscious decision to fight for a better future or in my case for another day of life with God by our side, we can overcome any obstacle or adversity in our path.

As many of you may already know in my personal journey, I battled cancer which was an unexpected and life altering chapter to say the least.  I must admit at the beginning of my diagnosis I was taken aback and felt defeated by the circumstances. I thought my book of life was going to come to an abrupt end with unfinished chapters. However, once I decided to stand up to cancer and fight, this gave me hope. I felt a renewed sense of purpose with the intent that I would be able to have more chapters added to my journey.  My cancer battle took about what seemed like an eternity to finally receive the good news of being Cancer free and in remission. Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. During my cancer battle, I experienced numerous setbacks and treatment failures.  The final treatment was actually a gamble where the results would either mean I would win it all and survive or lose it all and my journey would come to an end.  Spoiler alert I think we can all can guess by now that thanks to God, the treatment was a complete success.  Don’t get me wrong it all has not been a bed of roses, the after math of my cancer battle has not been an easy road to travel in. Everyday continues to be a difficult challenge because of the ongoing physical pain I experience all over my body due to the aggressive chemo and radiation treatment. Also, there is the tedious check-ups that I need, to ensure I don’t have a relapse or have other types of cancers that are a possibility due to the treatment received.  Cancer has changed my life and I know that it has caused for certain doors to be closed because of it.  While this is true, these closed doors are simply just redirections leading me to my destiny/purpose in life.

No matter how grim the circumstances or obstacles we face, we must always choose to fight through the battles in life. There is always room, for a new chapter in our book of life. There is always a bright new outlook in the horizon.  As long as we know that failures or closed doors might just be redirections in life that are meant to help us find our true path.   Remember, it’s our life and our journey. Never allow feelings of doubt or defeat dictate when our journey should conclude. As long as we have hope, there always a possibility of a better tomorrow.
