Phrases

We have all heard or used the phrases “everything happens for a reason or everything comes to you in the right moment “at one point or another in our lives.  I found myself using one of those phases recently with my dad as he is going through his cancer battle.  I told him that surprises arise all the time during the cancer battle while in process of more testing being requested, changes in the treatment plan and timelines being pushed back as a result.  Although, it can be exhausting and frustrating to go through all these variables during the cancer battle, I know from experience that it is needed to have the best possible outcome of not only beating cancer but surviving cancer.  For me, if they would not have done the testing and changed the chemo regime then my heart would have been damaged.  They changed it at a point when my tumor had shrunk enough and before the aggressiveness of the chemo caused any long-term damage to my heart.  It was all about timing and being patient.  Personally, I am a patientperson for some things but at the same time I am incredibly impatient for other things especially during my cancer battle. Therefore, this concept was difficult for me to embrace.  Cancer gave me no option, everything was out of my control and all I could do was to try my hardest to be patient and always have hope, faith, and trust in God that one day things would change and I would beat and survive my cancer battle.

Nowadays, when I become impatient, I remember the lessons that I learned and take a few breaths and steps back and remember that I must be patient.  Everything happens for a reason and things happen at the right time.
