A few days ago, I saw a quote that said “Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path.” This quote really resonated with me. I found those words to be so profound and so true. It made me reflect on all my life experiences especially my cancer battle journey. I feel that was a major storm in my life that at that time felt like it was destroying my life when in reality it was clearing my path to God. The passing of my mom was another major storm in my life that left a huge hole in my heart. So many of our life struggles feel like they can end us at any time if we let them ingulf us in pain. However, with God giving us strength, courage and support we all have the potential to be like a phoenix and rise from the ashes. It reminds me of another popular quote “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” I know we all go through major storms in our lives that make us feel devasted and alone at times but we must remember that no matter what, God is always with us every step of the way.

Talking about storms, I know several of you have been wondering on the status of my dad. This has been another major storm in both my dad’s life and mine. Thanks to everyone’s prayers and good wishes he continues to go through his recovery slowly. He had to be changed from one medical facility to another with major setbacks along the way. One of the major setbacks was that when he woke up after being intubated, he was paralyzed from his arms hand’s legs and feet. This was a major blow to his spirit. He felt angry and defeated. At first he didn’t want to do the physical therapy and he was in a very negative mindset. It was indeed a very dark and difficult time in both our lives. However, thanks to God and with time he was able to eventually go home even though he still was not able to walk and use his arms and hands. Being home seem to lift up his spirts somewhat and he is now getting his physical therapy at home and slowly getting a bit stronger each day. We still don’t know what his cancer status is at the moment. Once he is able to have a little more strength he will be going to the doctor (oncologist) hopefully in a few weeks or so depending on his progress to find out his cancer status and what will be the next steps in his battle with cancer. All this feels like it is a never-ending storm over our lives but we must remember that we must take one battle at a time, step by step and that every day we wake up is a blessing because our next breath is never guaranteed.
