They say that time flies when you are having fun but in reality, time flies whether you are having fun or not so it is better to make the best of it. I can’t believe it has already been a year since our total loss car accident and the aftermath event. In our mind it still feels like if it was only yesterday that our lives changed in a blink of an eye. One year ago, a truck with a grille guard struck my car from the passenger side and dragged the car onto the other lane which caused a hit on the driver’s side with a vehicle waiting to turn. The impact happened in a split of a second, yet it felt like it happened in slow motion. Suddenly, the car came to a halt, are we alive? we wondered. We looked around us and realized that the passenger door window was completely gone and, in its place, stood the passenger side air bags that had deployed due to the severity of the hit. Everything was quiet for a few seconds although it seemed like an eternity when suddenly loud noises finally found their way back into our ears and then we were able to determine that yes, thank God we were alive. Of course, the car was a total loss and we still have pain as well as PTSD from the accident but that seems like a small price to pay for both of us still being alive today. Honestly this year on the exact day of the accident even though I was driving by myself this time I still felt a little shaky being on the road. I prayed to God while driving that day and nothing happened but the anguish of experiencing a third major accident in my lifetime still haunts me. They say that lighting does not strike twice in the same place yet I have been in three major life threating car accidents in my lifetime. In all three instances it has not been my fault and my life could have ended each time and yet here I am today. This is another testament and reminder of how blessed we are. With God by my side, I survived a very serious car accident again last year that could have ended my life and the life of my family member. That’s why it is very important to always try to cherish every moment and appreciate the blessing of life because we can be alive one second and gone in a blink of an eye.
